We are currently stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. My husband leaves this Tuesday to Germany to get us housing, because we are on deferred travel due to no housing available for up to 120 days. So I have a few questions. * I am clearing on post housing (Ft. Campbell) and gave our 30 day notice already. I am going to put our HHG in storage. Transportation said the movers will have to unpack it all and re-pack it. Do you have tips or anything on this? *I am going to go visit family in Las Vegas, and California while we are waiting for my husband to find a house and will come back to Ft. Campbell for the movers and then to Georgia to ship our car. *Has anyone else done this and if so, what problems did you have, if any?? Any info would be great! Thank you. * On our orders it says * Household Goods are not authorized to ship until Hohenfels Housing office says we have a house there.... so we can set up our shipment but it will not ship until we have a house there. I am taking all the stuff I am putting in storage to Germany.. I am not leaving anything here. *We are on deferred travel because the housing waiting list there is too long. It will go over the Army's amount they are willing to pay for temp lodging. They won't even issue us our no-fee passports until housing contacts the people here at Fort Campbell. It is frustrating and RIDICULOUS and extremely un-organized. But as soon as my husband gets there and has us on the waiting list for a house (which they WILL NOT do over the phone) they will contact peeps here at Ft. Campbell and then approve our stuff. * 2 of our friends here are also PCSing to the same place we are, and it is the same for them.
